District has initiated on LCI direction on “Make Your Mark on World Diabetes Day by organizing Diabetes Screening, Diabetes Awareness Project, Health Talks, Healthy Lifestyles, and take the Risk Assessment, in order to achieve LCI’s target of screening 1 million people to fight against diabetes.
Lions Kitchen plays an important role during the Covid-19 pandemic. Lions have prepared, cooked and distributed foods and groceries to those needy by the assistance from the local authorities. . Fundraising projects also initiated by Lions Clubs to raise funds to support the hunger relief projects. There were many sponsors, donors and volunteers that have involved in the projects.
Lions will continue with the community services for the needy, especially to those hospitals frontliners, police/army, and poor families who may find difficulties during the Movement Control Order enforcement by the government during Covid-19 pandemic. However, we Lions have taken the necessary proactive precaution measures on our social responsibility and social distancing. We have also obtained the local authorities’ approval, assistance and support from them in order to carry out our community service smoothly. We believe that together we can overcome all the challenges during this Covid-19 pandemic period.
Vision projects were organized by clubs, however there were 2 main Vision projects which are The 3rd Sayangi Mata Vision Clinic Tampin 2019 is a joint collaboration between Lions Clubs International District 308B1 and Rotary International District 3300. Eye screening program covers the entire state of Negeri Sembilan. More than 17000 students in 53 schools were screened by 200 well trained school teachers in basic eye screening. A total of 1688 students under the B40 were shortlisted and screened during these 3 days event. The other main project was Melaka World Vision Day on 2nd November 2019. This was the joint project between Lions Clubs from Malaka and Jabatan Oftalmologi Hospital
6th Jan 2020. Mangroves planting program in collaboration with Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology & Climate Change (MESTECC). We have the honour to have minister of MESTECC YB Yeo Bee Yin and District Governor Dato’ Javern Lim to officiate the opening. A total of 700 trees being planted on that day at Pantai Leka, Parit Jawa, Muar. Earlier in the State of Johor & Negeri Sembilan, Lions Clubs have already planted many mangrove trees. This program will be continued to other states of our District 308B1.
14Feb,KL – MOU signing ceremony between Lions Clubs International District 308B1 Malaysia and Ronald McDonald House Charities Malaysia as working partners for Childhood Cancer awareness this year and launching of the Lions Wonderland, a playground intentionally upgraded to cater to all the children at Ronald MacDonald House especially those stricken with cancer. The event was officiated by Guest of Honour YB Hannah Yeoh, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Malaysia together with District Governor Lion Dato’ Javern Lim, President Ronald McDonald Malaysia En Azmir Jaafar, Pro Naib Canselor Kampus UKM KL Prof Datuk Dr. A. Rahman A. Jamal and Board of Director UKM cum Past Council Chairman Lion Dato’ Yeow Wah Chin.
